A Little Bit About Me

General Background

I was born and raised in the Silicon Valley, surrounded by nascent technologies and incubated in the dot-com boom and bust. While my first computer experiences were with such advanced and complex programs as Logo and Oregon Trail, by high school I was an avid computer user, for both academic and recreational purposes. Despite my fascination with computers and technology, my true academic calling was always the social sciences. After being suitably impressed by my AP Psychology class in high school, I chose to major in psychology in college.

Education

I graduated cum laude from UCSD in 2002 with a BA in Psychology, during the course of which I sampled a variety of electives including formal logic, ancient philosophy, anthropology, and calculus. Unfortunately, such a degree doesn't get one terribly far, and thus I enrolled in business school at SCU in the winter of 2003. In June of 2005 I completed my MBA with concentrations in entrepreneurship, managing innovation and technology, and leading people and organizations. By this time I'd heard of CMU's HCI program, and enrolled in August of 2005. I graduated in August of 2006 with an MHCI and a deep passion for creating useful, usable technologies.
