Palm Redesign
The Assignment
Spanning the entire semester, the homework assignments for Introduction to Human-Computer Interaction Methods built towards a redesign of the address book and calendar applications in the Palm OS. The assigments started with coding the transcript of a recorded Contextual Inquiry, progressed through the analysis of a Think-Aloud, a group Cognitive Walkthrough of the alarm-setting process, and other methods, resulting in a large quantity of data upon which to base a redesign. Jonathan Terleski, Andy Tzou, and I worked closely on this project for the duration of the fall semester.
Redesign and Retrospective
In this final assignment, we compiled all the evidence we'd aquired over the course of the semester into a coherent document explaining and providing a rationale for our suggested redesign. We included mocked up images of the application and detailed accounts of why we suggested these modifications.
The Retrospective document explains what we learned from employing the various methods, and compares their utility.
