Web Survey Toolbox
The Assignment
For the lab portion of Introduction to Human-Computer Interaction Methods, Michele Clarke, Kayre Hylton, Cole Jitkoff, and I analyzed and redesigned Aaron Powers' Web Survey Toolbox. His free tool, despite having features comperable to those of competitors that cost thousands of dollars, had some usability issues that needed to be addressed.
Methods
Echoing our learning in the lecture portion of Methods, our evaluation of the Web Survey Toolbox employed every method taught in the course. Combining the results of our Think-Alouds, Heuristic Evaluations, Cognitive Walkthroughs, Keyboard-Level Modeling, and Contextual Inquiries, with the requisite cultural, physical, flow, sequence, and artifact models, we completely overhauled the website and created a question wizard to help novice users create surveys and to distill repetitive tasks into shorter series of steps.
Final Presentation
Our final presentation summarizes our methods and includes before and after images of the website. It also shows the combined models and the question wizard we created.
